Daytona 500
We don't need to remind our NASCAR friends that today is the Daytona 500!
In 1984, Cale Yarborough completed a lap of 201.848 mph, officially breaking the 200 mph barrier at Daytona. He won the race (and $160,300) for the second year in a row, and fourth time in his career.
Yarborough’s career spanned 31 years. In that time he amassed 560 starts with 69 poles, and an astounding 310 top-10 finishes. Yarborough was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1994 and named one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers in 1998.(sources: daytona500.com & Wikipedia)
